Jewelry Cleaning and Care
Caring for Sterling Silver Jewelry
Store your sterling silver jewelry in tarnish prevention cloths or household plastic bags. The treated cloth slows down the tarnishing process and keeps the jewelry from rubbing against harder jewelry that might scratch it. The plastic bags protects your sterling silver jewelry from air which is silvers enemy. Try to keep your sterling silver jewelry in a cool, dry place. The bathroom is the worse place to store your jewelry.
Never wear your sterling silver jewelry in a chlorine pool, it can damage it beyond repair. Make sure to clean your Jewelry after wearing it running or working out. Do not use a liquid jewelry cleaner. See cleaning your jewelry below.
Adhere to the rule: “Last on, First off”. This means; put your jewelry on last, after you have applied lotions and perfume. And then take your jewelry off first and store it as mentioned above.
Cleaning Your Sterling Silver Jewelry
Polishing cloths are an excellent choice for cleaning your sterling silver jewelry. You might read recommendations to use toothpaste to clean sterling silver, but avoid doing that -- toothpaste is abrasive and can leave scratches. Also do not use liquid jewelry cleaners, they are too harsh for your sterling silver jewelry. We highly recommend one of our “Blitz” polish cloths. Blitz is the number one silver polish company in the world. All polish cloths are NOT created equal. You can find the “Blitz” polish clothes under our Triathlon and Running Accessories category. A small cloth is only $1.99. It’s the best money you can spend to protect your Jewelry investment
