Am I ready for the Disney Princess Half Marathon?

Running has a profound impact on people. The power it has on folks extends far beyond the physical. Running has a way of acting as a spark for undertaking bold goals. Things you felt you could not accomplish become somewhat manageable, if not entirely possible.

Additionally, there are a number of certainties tied with running. It is a given that you will find you are fatigued and sore. It is only a matter of time before a friend calls you crazy for running even while you are on vacation. You can also be guaranteed you will consider the idea of running a half marathon, like the Disney Princess Half Marathon!

Tackling 13.1 miles is a goal that calls out to many runners looking for experience. It is often their first tentative step beyond the safe confines of a 10K. It is frightening. It is larger than life. It sounds great. But, a half marathon is not a small undertaking.

With the popular Disney Princess Half Marathon being held February 19th – 22nd, it is inevitable that people who have not yet run 13.1 miles may start to wonder if they are ready to register for their own race!

If you find yourself listening to the siren call of a half marathon and you answer some of the questions below in the affirmative, you may be ready to tackle 13.1 miles.

  1. Will your lifestyle support training time?
  2. Have you been running consistently for at least eight to twelve months?
  3. Is it possible to run a 10K without making a trip to the Emergency Room or cursing the idea of running?
  4. Do you have sixty minutes four to five days a week for running, with one day devoted to distance runs?
  5. Do you really the heart required to run a 13.1 mile race like the Disney Princess Half Marathon!?

Completing a half marathon requires more heart than athletic skill at the end of the day. Make sure your heart is prepared for the journey!
