The nation’s capital will be filled with runners this Fathers Day, since there are a number of great options for running families. Run with Dad 5K offers multigenerational team prizes; Father’s Day 8K is offering Georgetown cupcakes for kids (and a happy hour at Chadwick’s for dads); and the Capital Area Dash 4 Dad 4 Mile Run benefits prostate cancer research and has a fun twist: runners can “Tie One On For Dad” near the one mile mark by choosing a tie and rushing to tie a proper knot before racing out and finishing the race.

While not strictly a 5K, the 12th Annual Fathers Day Race in New Orleans is one of the prettiest races in the South. Century-old oak trees in a landscape designed by Olmsted (one of the greatest landscape architects of American history) line the path for one beautiful run. This race offers team awards for Fathers and Sons, Fathers and Daughters, Grandfathers and Grandsons, and Grandfathers and Granddaughters.

Will Run For Bling is a virtual race company offering virtual runs to raise money for charities – and yes, registered participants do get bling, in the form of medals and race bibs. You can run on your favorite trail, along a beautiful beach, or on a treadmill – or map your own course from bar to bar (this is a Beer Run after all!). This Father’s Day Beer Run supports the Arthritis Foundation.
