MSJ’s 10 Favorite Mommy Runner Blogs for Mother’s Day

Running Mother Bloggers

If you’ve been looking for some inspirational, motivational, and downright empowering partners in crime, we’d like to introduce you to some of our favorite online communities for moms who run.

1.Another Mother Runner – Brought to you from the authors of “Run Like a Mother” and “Train Like a Mother,” this blog builds and strengthens its community on a daily basis with training ideas, running playlist suggestions, lists of women’s races and women’s running clubs, a forum, and a podcast. But our favorite part of this website is the real stories from real women in their “Why I Run” series. Follow AMR on Twitter @DimityOnTheRun

2.Mother Runner – Running is as internal, cerebral and emotional as it is physical, and few running bloggers capture the complexity of being a running mom as well as Mother Runner. We can absolutely relate to her recent post about the Boston Marathon: “And although it is tempting to feel like I reallydon’tbelong there because I reallycan’tcompete with them, I try, instead, to remind myself that I’m actually not competing with them. I’m running my own race. Against me and my inner coward, my inner sloth, my inner egotist. And the goal is not to win, not to beat anybody else, but instead to be brave, and true, and humble.” She nails it, every time. Follow her on Facebook.

3.Shut Up and Run – Humor and tough love collide to bring you unfiltered inspiration to go from “zero to 26.2 miles.” Here you’ll find training tips, product reviews, a list of races, and multiple posts on bodily functions. What you won’t find are excuses. What we love most are her irreverent posts like “How To Not Crap Your Pants On the Run.” Follow her @ShutUpRun

4.Mom Swim Bike Run – This Pittsburgh-based runner’s blog will give you a really good sense of what it means to train, to run (and swim and bike). We love her detailed after-race recaps – it feels like you ran every step with her! They are a great resource for newer runners trying to find out what to expect from the marathon experience. Follow her @MomSwimBikeRun

5.Marcia’s Healthy Slice – Marcia is a stay-at-home-mom, marathoner, running coach, cyclist, skater and health enthusiast, and her blog reflects all of these interests from essential oils, to recipes, to marathon recaps. She approaches running holistically, taking care of her body, mind, and sanity with a dose of nutrition, a dab of philosophy, and a dollop of humor. Follow her @Teamarcia

6.Mile-Posts – Mother of three and Women’s Running Magazine cover model, Dorothy Beal would be intimidating if she weren’t so darn charming. Her blog is packed with running playlist ideas, stories about juggling kids and workouts, running quotes, tips for running during pregnancy and stroller running, and she even has a pace and distance calculator. Inspiration and practical advice all in one url! Follow her @MilePosts

7.30 Something Mother Runner – Jessica is about to have her third child any day now (if she hasn’t already), so we’d like to wish her a very special Mother’s Day! Her recent posts have been filled with very practical tips on keeping active while pregnant, product reviews and training tips. Follow her @rhodymomrunner

8.Inspired RD – This blog, authored by a mom, dietitian, and personal trainer is all about fitness, food, and inspiration. Her posts include “Made for Moms” home workouts, healthy gluten-free recipes, and thoughts on faith and family. Follow her @InspiredRD

9.Baby Weight My Fat Ass – Bless you Michel, because you say it for all of us. We love reading about your trials and tribulations with losing weight, running marathons and being a mom (who can’t relate?!). We’re with you every step of the way, gaining inspiration from your journey. Follow her on Facebook.

10.Sporty Mom – Hope is a mother of two, CrossFitter, runner and triathlete, and her blog is a tour de force of enthusiasm and love for her sports. Mixed in with inspiration and perspiration are relatable personal accounts of everything it means to be a woman, an athlete and a mom. Follow her @SportyMomme

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our running Moms out there!
